"Throughout The Body Are Hands And Eyes" is more of a painting than an album. It's comprised of several smaller compositions but its essence is found in the unity between them. It was conceptualized as one large song from the very beginning.
Sonically, we wanted to instill a sense of questioning in the listener. We tried to accomplish this through using abstract sounds and field recordings along with the musical compositions to create textures that are simultaneously familiar and new. The sonic environments act as a framework for the listener to search for meaning within the work and ultimately within themselves.
Since so much importance was given to the texture of the sounds themselves the recording process was immensely important. Great thought was given to every sound; how it occupied the sonic space, and what it communicated to the listener. Our chief engineer Tim Price played a huge role in making this happen.
All in all, we wanted to invite the listener to be patient. To question what they just heard and what they might hear next. We conceptualized this recording as an audible mandala; something to gently guide the meditative mind trough the themes of, life and death, being, desire, loss and enlightenment.
